Importance of Ready To Use Ringer Stirrups




Building your new home is exciting, primarily when you know how the process goes. Beams and columns are the two important structural components that play a vital role in creating a safe load path to transfer the weight and forces on a structure equally. Beams and columns are built using the same shapes and materials but have different functions.

Stirrups are a vital part of the construction. It is nothing but the steel bars wrapped around the beam and column to give them strength along with the structure. Stirrups are available in diverse shapes and prevent columns & beams from shifting during concrete placements. Types of Stirrups Used in Construction:

You may see various types of standard construction stirrups available in multiple shapes and sizes according to the design of the column and beam. All the stirrups have three things in common. Firstly they must have a 135° hook. Secondly, each hook must be at the proper length and the mandrel. Thirdly stirrups have to be the right size. 


Let's have a look at different available stirrups:

1. Single-Legged

The single-legged stirrups are used very often and can be beneficial when you only need to bind two rods. Instead of a full loop, it looks more like a flattened U-shape.


2. Double-Legged

Double legged is the most common stirrup configuration in the industry. You need a minimum of four rods to complete this stirrup. 


3. Four-Legged

It usually consists of two overlapping stirrups which do not wrap all the bars. 


4. Six-Legged

A single stirrup wraps all eight bars, and additional legs add more support. These extra legs usually stretch between two adjacent bars. 


5. Circular

When the structure of the column is round the circular stirrups are used. The exact measurements of stirrups will vary, as it depends on the size of the construction and the number of bars required. 


6. Triangular

The triangular Ring used in the column provides lateral support to the main bar against buckling.


7. Helical

Helical stirrups get their name from their similarity to a DNA double helix. A helical stirrup resembles a spring, providing additional support to primarily circular columns.
